The following information is provided to give all residents an update on the recent actions of your Milestone Board of Directors:
1. Delinquent / Unpaid Annual Dues
Neighbors that do not pay their Annual dues and other fees create a financial hardship for the entire neighborhood. There are many expenses associated with keeping Milestone beautiful and safe. If dues are left uncollected, the Association must decide to either cancel these services or tap into our critical reserve funds – alternatives that are not fair to those property owners that pay their dues on time.
To correct this deficiency, the Board of Directors is aggressively pursuing those property owners that have not paid their required dues and fees. To protect the financial solvency of our neighborhood, below are examples of our recent legal action taken:
A. File a Notice of Lien against the specific property.
B. Begin formal Foreclosure procedures against a specific property (if dues are still left unpaid).
C. In accordance with new Florida laws which took effect this summer, Milestone Association may garnish the monthly rent payments of those tenants living in homes that the property owner has delinquent / unpaid dues. The Association is legally authorized to evict tenants if dues are left unpaid.
2. Nine Mile Road Expansion to 4 lanes
Escambia County held a special meeting last week to discuss the plan forward in the expansion of Nine Mile Road. Interested residents may access www.ninemileroadstudy.com to view the information that was distributed at the meeting and view the proposed construction plans.
A. The expansion project is collaboration between Escambia County and FL Dept of Transportation (FDOT).
B. Timeline:
- The current Project Development & Environment Evaluation will continue through May 2011.
- Engineering Design Phase will last from May 2011 until early 2013.
- Construction is not expected to begin until Spring 2013.
The new lanes are planned for construction on the south side of the existing road - opposite our subdivision.
C. All streetlight / island locations are based on existing FDOT traffic standards, Florida Law, and vehicle traffic volume studies.
3. Neighborhood Security Watch Patrols
Roving security patrols have begun again. Watch patrols can be identified by vehicles with a rotating yellow beacon on their dashboard and official Milestone Security signs on their car doors. Patrol times will be varied to ensure we keep an eye on Safety & Security at all times of the day.
If you would like to volunteer to be part of this Team, or if you need to report suspicious activity around Milestone, please contact Jim Kittrell, Watch Patrol Captain, at 475-5991.
